At the Mainebiz Women to Watch 2017 celebration event, one of the Maine CU System's own took center stage when Infinity FCU's President/CEO, Elizabeth Hayes, was among the five women honored. All five women were honored at a special ceremony held in September at the Westin Hotel in Portland.

Peter Van Allen, Editor of Mainebiz, explained what the honor is all about. "This year we had so many great nominees, we named five honorees instead of the traditional four. They come from a range of industries and each have an interesting story to tell."
Upon being named to the list, Hayes called it "a great honor and humbling to receive this distinction." At her speech at the celebration event, Hayes explained her leadership philosophy. "Leadership is not just speaking on a podium. You have to communicate by email. You have to communicate one-on-one." She also urged the women in the crowd to "follow your dreams, and don't let anyone tell you that you can't do something. Work hard, be confident and believe in yourself."
Todd Mason, President of the Maine CU League, said Hayes' honor is something the entire CU System in Maine can celebrate. "What Liz is doing at Infinity FCU in terms of growth, innovation and the cooperative spirit strengthens not only her credit union but the entire system. I extend congratulations to Liz for her achievement, and being a great ambassador for Maine's credit unions."
