League President’s Award: Rick Lachance, Connected CU

(L-R) Rick Lachance, President/CEO of Connected CU and former Board Chair of the Maine CU League, received the League President’s Award from Todd Mason, President/CEO of the Maine CU League.

After serving on the Maine Credit Union League Board for 13 years, including the past two as Chair, Rick Lachance, President/CEO of Connected CU, decided it was time to step down and “give others an opportunity.”  For his many contributions to the Board and to the CU System, Lachance was honored with the League President’s Award by Todd Mason, President/CEO of the Maine CU League.

“Rick has not only been a great mentor and role model, but also a good friend as he has been immensely helpful helping me this past year during the transition to my role as President/CEO.  I nominated Rick because he is the consummate gentleman, credit union advocate and embodies the credit union philosophy,” explained Mason in a video tribute announcing Lachance’s Award, adding, “Rick has had such a positive impact to our CU System during his time on the Board, especially in the area of statewide awareness.  His leadership as Chair of that Committee has brought the program to where it is today.”

For Lachance, getting involved was not something he had planned.  “When I sat in the audience at my first Convention in 1985, I never imagined that I would be involved to the level of many of the individuals I heard speak that day, and certainly never imagined myself serving as Chair of the Maine Credit Union League Board.  But, with some encouragement, I did get involved, and am so glad that I did.  It has been a great experience,” he said in his remarks as he accepted the Award.
