Holiday cheer, courtesy of Maine CUs


With a core philosophy of 'people helping people', it is not a surprise that Maine credit unions were once again on the giving end of gifts and other good deeds during the holiday season.  "Giving and credit unions go hand-in-hand, and the holidays just magnifies the generous spirit of the staff and members at many Maine credit unions across Maine.  The lives of Maine people were again enhanced this holiday season thanks to Maine credit unions," explained Jon Paradise, Vice President of Public Affairs and Engagement at the Maine Credit Union League.

Paradise said from collecting socks to help people stay warm and adopting families and even collecting turkeys, examples of Maine CUs helping those less fortunate were abundant this holiday season.  Some of those are pictured below:

Sock-In-A-Box at Seaboard FCU

With a goal to collect 1000 pairs of socks, Seaboard FCU collected 1157 pairs of socks through its Sock-In-A-Box drive to donate to area shelters to help keep people's feet warm.  In front of the bags of socks are: (L-R) Mary J Boylan, Shelter Director for The Emmaus Center Ellsworth, Seaboard FCU's Erika Grass and Johanna Dorr, Emelynn Holyoke and Dan Fleming of the Shaw House in Bangor, and Kyle Casburn, President/CEO of Seaboard FCU.

York County FCU remembers furry friends at the holidays

Because animals like presents, too, York County FCU presented a holiday check to the Animal Welfare Society.
