Generosity opportunities will abound at 2018 Annual Meeting & Convention

Generosity and giving are both hallmarks of the Maine CU System and the 2018 Maine CU League Annual Meeting & Convention will offer plenty of opportunities to help causes near and dear to Maine’s credit unions – Ending Hunger and CULAC.

Beginning with the sold-out Convention Golf Tournament for Ending Hunger on Thursday, May 17, at Belgrade Lakes Golf Club in Belgrade, and continuing the following day with the expanded Silent Auction for Ending Hunger at the Convention itself, the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger is hoping to raise another record amount from Convention-related fundraising.  “We raised nearly $87,000 for the Campaign in just two days at last year’s Convention.  We are certainly hoping for another strong year this year,” explained Jon Paradise, Vice President of Public Affairs and Engagement for the Maine CU League.  Paradise said that the Silent Auction will take place from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., to allow for a wider audience to place bids.  It will take place right outside of the Ballroom at Convention.  In addition, attendees are encouraged to stop by the Social Responsibility Committee Booth located in the same area and learn more about the Campaign, as well as ‘Take A Chance’ at Red Sox tickets.

In addition to Ending Hunger, CULAC is an essential part of the League’s successful governmental affairs efforts.  The famous ‘CULAC Super 6’ Silent Auction will take place at Convention and be open from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., as well.  Elise Baldacci, Vice President of Governmental Affairs for the League, said, “2018 is an Election year so raising funds for CULAC and Maine CULAC takes on added importance.   The CULAC Super 6 has some great items up for bid this year so we are looking to raise several thousand dollars to help us support candidates.”  The Governmental Affairs booth will also be near the Registration area and have an opportunity for attendees to contribute to CULAC, too.

For attendees that don’t carry cash, no problem.  Contributions to Ending Hunger and CULAC will also be available by credit or debit card.
