Diane L. Oceretko ‘People Helping People’ Award: Betsy Sibley, Community CU

Her passion for volunteering covers many areas, and Betsy Sibley was honored with the Diane L. Oceretko ‘People Helping People’ Award. She is pictured here with Todd Mason, President/CEO of the Maine Credit Union League.

“Having been part of working in my family’s general store growing up, I was taught early on about community and helping others.  That has stayed with me as an adult, and guides me in my work and personal life.  Giving back is a part of my fabric, and I am thankful that I work with a great team and leadership that encourages that,” remarked Betsy Sibley, VP of Marketing and Business Development at Community CU, and the 2018 recipient of the Diane L. Oceretko ‘People Helping People’ Award from the Maine CU League.

Nominated by Community CU President/CEO Jen Hogan, Sibley was described in the nomination as “living her life as the definition of ‘people helping people’.”  Hogan and other co-workers at the CU cited Sibley’s desire to “make a difference in people’s lives, not just on behalf of the credit union but for the community.”

With the credit union since 2012, Sibley is also active in many other ways in the community including serving as the President of the Parent-Teacher Committee in her local community, being a youth basketball and soccer coach, a member of Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce and other organizations.

“Helping others is not just check-the-box type of work for Betsy, it’s who she is and how she lives her life,” added Hogan.
