CU on Facebook!


With more than 80% of Maine CUs having a presence on Facebook, the value of Facebook as a communication tool is widely accepted.  “This is a case where credit unions are utilizing technology to engage with their members in a different way.  In many cases, Facebook has replaced the in-branch interaction because of the reduction in members consistently going to a branch for financial services.  What Facebook allows CUs to do is to build a community for members to learn about different fundraisers, events and even employee birthdays, etc.  Some CUs in Maine really put a strong focus and emphasis on having a regular presence on Facebook,” said Jon Paradise, Vice President of Public Affairs and Engagement for the Maine CU League.

Here is a quick sampling of some of the recent postings found on the Facebook pages of several Maine CUs:

Acadia FCU

Right now, Acadia FCU is encouraging staff and members to post photos of items with the Acadia FCU logo out and about on its Facebook page. Here, a staff member, posted a photo of her carrying the Acadia FCU backpack heading to a Red Sox game in Boston.

cPort CU

cPort CU is keeping members updated on the construction progress of its new branch being built in downtown Portland.

Gardiner FCU

Gardiner FCU is sponsoring a summer concert series on the Gardiner Waterfront and promoting the series and its sponsorship on its Facebook page.

Town & Country FCU

Town & Country FCU is promoting the times of its Member Appreciation Summer Celebration barbecues on its Facebook page.

University CU

To promote its presence and its fun table at New Student Orientation in Orono, UCU posted photos on its Facebook page. Pictured here is UCU VP Renee Ouellette with Black Bear mascot, Bananas, spinning the prize wheel.
