For ending hunger and Maine CUs, the journey continues

The 16th Annual Maine CUs’ Ending Hunger Walking and Awareness Tour is off and running (er…walking).  Brenda Davis left Maine State CU on Friday, October 27, and will journey across the state visiting credit unions and food pantries until finishing in Hampden on November 28.

“The mission is two-fold – to help make a difference in ending hunger in communities across Maine, and to raise awareness about the problem of hunger in communities across Maine.  Maine’s credit unions are committed to continue to talk about this issue until it is no longer an issue, and our partnership with Brenda through the Tour has made ‘miles’ of difference,” remarked Jon Paradise, Vice President of Governmental and Public Affairs for the Maine Credit Union League.

During this year’s Tour, Davis will visit 91 communities, the most ever, and the Maine CUs’ Campaign for Ending Hunger will make a contribution to a food pantry in every community it visits.  The Tour will finish with a special ceremony on Tuesday, November 28, at Changing Seasons FCU in Hampden.

Through the course of the Tour, nearly $30,000 will be contributed to the cause of ending hunger in Maine.

Since 1990, the Maine CUs’ Campaign for Ending Hunger has raised $7.2 million to help end hunger in Maine, including a record-setting $675,000 in 2016.
