Earlier this week, freshman Congressman Jared Golden (ME-CD2) received his committee assignment. Golden, a Marine Corps veteran, has been chosen to serve on the House Armed Services Committee. This Committee is critical in serving the interests of Maine’s Bath Iron Works shipyard.

Congressman Golden will likely serve on a second House committee, but the full list of committee assignments has not been released. In a statement following his committee announcement, Golden said,

“I’m honored to fight for Maine’s working people and our soldiers, sailors, and airmen on the Armed Services Committee. I’ll use my experience fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan to make sure our service members have the tools and training they need to succeed and keep us safe. I’ll stand up for working Maine people, protect good jobs right here in our state, and help businesses in the Second District grow and hire more Mainers. I’ll never forget that Bath-built is best-built.”

Maine Senator Angus King serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee.
