Maine Family FCU is hiring a Mortgage Support Specialist at its Lewiston location.
Maine Family FCU is seeking a motivated, positive and outgoing individual to join our team. As the Mortgage Support Specialist, you will answer basic inquiries regarding real estate products, rates, and terms; schedule appointments for the Mortgage Originator as needed; and handle post-closing duties. You will also cross-train to back up the Mortgage Processor on all essential duties as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare discharges on paid open-end and closed-end mortgage loans and coordinate filing with the applicable registry of deeds.
- Review a select list of home equity lines of credit monthly to evaluate ongoing credit worthiness. Renew lines as appropriate. Identify potential red flags in ability to repay and present findings to AVP of Mortgage and Business Lending.
- Monitor prevailing interest rates and present findings to AVP of Mortgage and Business Lending for rate adjustments to ensure rates align with current market conditions.
- Track and maintain complete and accurate logs for property tax liens to ensure all maturing tax liens are paid prior to maturity date. Follow procedures and contact borrowers regarding outstanding property tax liens.
- Track and maintain complete and accurate logs for all homeowner’s insurance policies to ensure no lapse in coverage. Follow procedures for contacting borrowers on lapsed coverage and initiating force placed insurance when required. Verify coverage is sufficient to cover outstanding loan balance.
- Review closed loans for compliance and completeness. Verify that all documentation is present and signed where applicable. Review HMDA information on all closed, denied, and withdrawn loans for completeness.
- Disburse closed loans and ensure all recordings and payoffs are completed in a timely manner.
- Review property tax and insurance bills and update escrow information accordingly. Issue payments from escrow accounts in a timely manner. Generate regular reports on escrow account status and identify potential issues. Assist AVP of Mortgage and Business Lending with annual escrow analysis as needed.
- Maintain file room by filing, organizing, and updating as requested.
- Inform potential members of documentation needed to open business accounts.
- Communicate effectively with third parties as it pertains to loan files.
- Provide post-closing assistance and guidance to borrowers as needed.
- Relay member needs and wants based on feedback for new credit union products and services.
- Provide members with information on other credit union products and services. Cross-sell members on other credit union products and services as appropriate.
Assist AVP of Mortgage and Business Lending with any other duties as reasonably assigned.
