Although this legislative session is wrapping up, ensuring credit unions remain active in advocacy is top of mind for the League. To help keep it top of mind for your credit union, the League’s Governmental Affairs team can visit your branch to discuss the importance of contributing to CULAC with your employees.
In June, Director of Government Affairs Krista Simonis and Vice President of Advocacy and Outreach Robert Caverly provided presentations to Gardiner FCU and Community CU. They discussed why it is important to support credit union-friendly candidates and contribute to CULAC. They also highlighted this session’s legislative wins and shared information about Deduct-A-Buck, Dress Down, and Payroll Deduction contribution options for CULAC.
“It was great to get a chance to talk with staff and correct some myths about the legislative process while also increasing transparency for the work we do,” said Simonis. “It’s so important for everyone to be involved—I want everyone to feel empowered to be a part of the movement and feel like their work matters.”
This presentation is available for any credit union who wants to educate their staff about legislative advocacy and encourage CULAC donations. If you are interested in having Rob and Krista visit your branch, please email Krista Simonis at ksimonis@mainecul.org. In addition to Deduct-a-Buck, Dress Downs, and Payroll Deduction, you also can contribute to our PAC directly from the League website. Anyone can contribute to the League’s state PAC.
