Well-Attended Session Indicates Strong Interest In Synergent's New BCP Service

An introductory session highlighting Synergent's new Business Continuity Planning program drew a strong crowd, and feedback from attendees was positive.  The session, hosted by Synergent's Director of Facilities and Business Continuity, Bill Ashland, was provided at no charge at the CU Service Center on Thursday, July 16.

In the session, Ashland provided an overview of the new series that Synergent has developed for credit unions that will enable credit unions to leverage and share user group process knowledge with their peers about business continuity planning.  The workshops in the BCP series will include: Synergent-provided subject matter; user-friendly tools; and templates needed to build and maintain a robust Business Continuity Program and enhance each participant organization's preparedness.

"We will be holding workshops on a quarterly basis, and participants will be guided through the business continuity process.  By the conclusion of the fourth workshop in the series, each participating credit union will have a documented and tested Incident Management (Crisis Response) Plan, Business Impact Analysis, and Business Continuity Plan."

Ashland said that this will be an on-going series with opportunities to attend alternate and make-up sessions in the series, as well as for new personnel to join the program in the future.

Attendees at the introductory session found it to be "very well done."  Samantha Noyes, VP of Member Service/Operations at Oxford FCU, remarked, "This is a terrific opportunity to not only learn about Business Continuity, but to also build and develop a program we can take back to our credit unions.  Bill is a wonderful teacher and facilitator, and I look forward to participating in the rest of the series."  Bert Beaulieu, VP of Compliance at Down East CU, echoed Noyes' assessment, adding, "This is a much needed service, and one that will, no doubt, help a lot of credit unions with their business resumption plan efforts."

The next session wil be held on Tuesday, October 13, at the CU Service Center.  Click here to register for that session.
