Volunteers' Conference speaker spotlight: Jeff Davenport, CUNA Mutual Group

As registrations approach 275 for the Maine CU League's Volunteers' Conference happening at the end of the month, here's a sneak peak at one of the sessions those who haven't registered yet will miss if they don't attend.  The two-day Conference takes place October 27-28, at the Samoset in Rockport.  It all begins with a Pre-Conference Session featuring Jeff Davenport, Financial Consultant with CUNA Mutual Group, who will provide a great overview for volunteers on Credit Union Trends and Updates focused on what's happening in Maine.

Davenport, who has spent more than two decades in the credit union system including as CEO of two different credit unions, will share his insight and experience with volunteers looking for what the future might hold.  This session will help attendees gain knowledge about the latest trends in Maine, including the impact of the economy and the role of compliance on credit union growth and operations.

Of his presentation, which takes place on October 27, from 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m., Davenport explains, "Once we look at those things we can't control, we'll discuss the issues we can control: the future of lending for traditional lenders, competing for your members' share of wallet in a global marketplace, competing with the FinTech companies, and how CUNA Mutual Group can help."

In addition to Davenport, the Volunteers' Conference also includes a full day of learning on Saturday, October 28, beginning with League President Todd Mason's Issues Roundtable Discussion; Attorney David Reed on how to recruit new volunteers; and Celeste Cook, founder of cuStrategies, LLC, on the important role that boards can play in membership growth.

There will be entertainment on Friday evening, as well, with the popular Survey Says Game Show with host Paul Giroux.
