UCU’s new Saco branch.
UCU is pleased to announce it has officially opened its newest branch and loan operations center in York County. Located at 4 Community Drive (off of 1001 Portland Road) in Saco, it features a fully renovated space designed to offer UCU members a comprehensive range of financial services. On July 25 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm, the credit union will host a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house in partnership with the Biddeford + Saco Chamber of Commerce + Industry. The event will be open to the public and will feature refreshments and activities—including a visit from a local food truck.
“Expanding into York County marks a meaningful step in our continued growth across Maine,” said Renee Ouellette, President & CEO of UCU. “With this new branch offering a full suite of products and services in Saco, we’re showing our commitment to being Here for U by delivering trusted financial guidance, modern tools, and a genuine connection to the communities we serve.”
To lead the Saco branch, UCU has promoted Shawn MacDonald to Branch Manager. MacDonald brings more than a decade of experience in member service, staff development, and community engagement. He most recently served as UCU’s Community Engagement Manager for southern Maine and previously as Assistant Branch Manager at the Portland location.
Also supporting the Saco community is Whitney Blethen, who will serve as Community Engagement Manager for southern Maine. In this role, Blethen will lead local initiatives including financial literacy education, volunteering, sponsorships, and community partnerships. UCU’s statewide team of Community Engagement Managers serve as passionate ambassadors working to advance financial well-being across Maine.
The Saco branch is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including UCU’s expanding fleet of Video Teller machines. The newly renovated space includes a welcoming lobby and dedicated areas for members to meet with UCU product specialists. Members may conduct a variety of transactions from this location, including real estate, consumer and member business loan closings, UCU Wealth Management meetings, financial education programming led by UCU’s Certified Credit Union Financial Counselors, and more.
