University Credit Union (UCU) is pleased to welcome Martha Ward to the credit union’s senior leadership team as Vice President of Technology & Digital Experience. In this role, Ward will lead the development and execution of UCU’s overall technology strategy, including maintaining and enhancing the systems that enable effective business performance and contribute to the member digital experience.
Ward, a resident of Bangor, joins UCU from Records Management Center (RMC), where she managed a large team responsible for IT operations and for ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and compliance of records storage, and data. Prior to RMC, Ward led digital product development and lead generation at the Bangor Daily News, one of Maine’s largest daily newspapers, from 2010-2016.
“Martha’s unique background in both digital product development and information technology systems and security perfectly suits her for the exciting work we are doing to provide a great digital experience for members,” said Renee Ouellette, President and CEO of UCU. “As financial technology and consumer preferences evolve, credit unions must be able to adapt, and having skilled leaders who understand how to balance performance, compliance, and security along with an enjoyable member experience is critical to getting it right.”
Ward will oversee UCU’s various IT functions, including infrastructure, hardware platforms, service coordination, network security, telecommunications, and help desk support. As a member of the credit union’s senior leadership team, Ward will work with other leaders to align UCU’s strategic goals with technology initiatives that support them.
Ward holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Husson College, as well as Certified Secure Destruction Specialist (CSDS) accreditation from the International Secure Information Governance & Management Association. CSDS accreditation is awarded to information governance professionals who have demonstrated a high degree of expertise in data destruction operations, regulatory compliance, information security, and risk management.
