Two Maine Professionals Named as 2018 Credit Union Rock Stars

This month’s edition of Credit Union Magazine released its annual list of Credit Union Rock Stars, this year recognizing 46 exceptional professionals within our industry from across the country. Two well-deserving recipients of this honor are Maine’s own Fred Lizotte, Business Intelligence Manager at Infinity FCU, and David Libby, President/CEO of Town & Country FCU.

“It’s the variety and excitement of what we do every day—always exploring and discussing new ideas of how we can engage members, attract new members, and handle constant change,” stated Libby in Credit Union Magazine’s article. “I love change and how that make things better.”

Many innovative changes that have occurred under Libby’s leadership were cited by Credit Union Magazine, including Town & Country FCU being among the first four financial institutions in the country to offer an Alexa Skill with the ability to link account access for Amazon Echo devices, and being the first credit union in Maine to offer Apple Pay, check-imaging ATMs, and dialogue/pod stations to its members. He also drove the development of the Town & Country Center, a space for operations staff to collaborate and work using the latest office technology available.

Fred Lizotte is focused on using data to drive decision-making and to identify future opportunities for growth in new markets. Having transitioned to Infinity FCU from a larger bank, he ensured better member service was achieved through the implementation of their new data warehouse. Throughout the credit union, real-time dashboards and reporting allows staff to easily access daily production statistics.

Lizotte believes in the power of process improvements, stating in his Credit Union Magazine article, “It takes more time, but it means you are not sticking a Band-Aid on a problem. It’s very rewarding to arrive at a solution.” He also highlighted the importance of listening to members’ feedback to best understand what their needs are.
