On September 21, hundreds of people convened at Payson Park in Portland for the annual Maine Children’s Cancer Program (MCCP) Walk, including the “TruCrew,” a dedicated group of employees from TruChoice FCU.
For 23 years, TruChoice FCU has participated in the annual event, which raises funds for the MCCP, a world-class treatment center supporting children impacted by cancer and blood disorders. In addition to serving as the walk’s signature sponsor, the credit union’s TruCrew served as individual fundraisers and walkers.
Lisa Rowley, TruChoice Director of Project Management & Process Improvement, has been involved with the walk for 23 years and has served on the MCCP Walk Committee. She says the event is near and dear to the hearts of employees at her credit union.
“Our team is passionate about the mission of the Maine Children’s Cancer Program,” said Rowley. “Most of our employees participate every year by walking, raising funds, or volunteering. It’s a wonderful way for us to spend time together on a Saturday morning and make a difference in our community.”
The TruCrew team raised $5,000 this year to support the MCCP. All contributions raised at the event will stay in Maine and help local children and their families.
