Today’s the Day – #ILoveMyCreditUnion Social Media Blitz

After weeks of planning, its finally time to showcase why the credit union movement is so strong! The #ILoveMyCreditUnion social media blitz, happening today, will demonstrate the credit union difference and why our members value the services they receive at their credit unions.

To commemorate today’s festivities, some members of the League and Synergent staff shared their thoughts about why this day and our movement is special.

  • “The thing I like most about working in the credit union movement is that it feels like one big family. There is no other industry that comes together for events or projects like the credit union movement. Whether it is a grassroots campaign or raising $1 million to help end hunger in Maine, there is power in our collaboration. Credit union people bond through a common goal/cause and work tirelessly to achieve it together.” Cris Wescott, President & CEO of the League and Synergent
  • “How many people can truly say they believe in their industries? I get to go to work every day knowing I work for a company that exists to help make people’s lives better.” Tim Brooks, Synergent Vice President – Marketing
  • “The saying “People Helping People” isn’t just a fancy phrase we use to make us feel good about our work. This philosophy is at the core of everything we do—whether its supporting members, uplifting our communities, or providing meaningful jobs for Mainers. Working in the credit union movement is exactly where I am meant to be.” Jen Burke, League Assistant Vice President – Communications & Outreach
  • “Credit unions give me a way to be part of worldwide team. No matter where I go, if a credit union is near, I know I’d be welcomed with open arms!” Erica Danylko, League and Synergent Financial Reporting & Analytics Manager
  • “This is a friendly, cooperative industry that collectively is focused on helping people and communities. Being part of the credit union movement for an organization that exists to help credit unions best serve their members is so rewarding.” – Sarah Farwell, Synergent Corporate Marketing Director
  • “I love my credit union because it checks the boxes on two very important things for me. My credit union meets my needs for competitive financial services, as well as my desire to align myself with socially responsible establishments.” – Jake Holmes, League Financial Literacy Outreach Coordinator
  • “I love being a credit union member simply for the ease of managing my money from anywhere – with no limits or fees tacked on for overusing the services (i.e. exceeding the maximum mobile transfers per month). It’s why I switched to a credit union in the first place, and now it’s never been easier to stay on top of my finances and do/get what I need.” – Lauren McCallum, League Outreach & Communications Coordinator
  • “Almost 100 years later, credit unions have stayed true to why they were chartered! True cooperatives working for the good of their members and communities. Why wouldn’t a consumer want to be a part of a money cooperative?” Corinne Sherman, Synergent Vice President – Sales and Consulting
  • “Credit unions are not just a financial institution, they are family. They do all they can to take care of their members, just like family!  I have been a member of my credit union for over 30 years. They know my children and now my grandchildren.” Christal Sullivan, Synergent Team Lead – Account Relationship Management
  • “For me, the credit union is a way to stay connected to my family and the community that helped my grandparents begin their life in this country. My grandfather immigrated to California in 1966 on a United Airlines flight, and eventually found a job working for them. My dad worked for United, and my uncle, too. When my grandparents came to the U.S. for a better life, belonging to credit union was part of how they achieved the American Dream – it was a way for the employees of United to pool their resources and be stronger together. It was my grandmother who referred me to an account. Even though my grandparents are gone, through the credit union I still feel connected and I know I’m part of supporting the same ideals and community that helped my family get started in America.” Krista Simonis, League Director of Governmental Affairs
  • “Working in the credit union movement has always been inspiring—every day I get to hear from credit unions about the wonderfully unique ways they are making a difference in the lives of their members. I love the folks at my local credit union! They’ve all gotten to know me and my quirks, and are ready for me with a smile when I arrive.” Katy Ford, Synergent Senior Account Relationship Manager
