Time To Go "All-In" For CULAC

For the first-time ever, your League is having a real-time challenge to encourage individuals and credit unions to contribute to CULAC.  Stop by the Governmental Affairs section of the Maine CU League and Synergent booth in the Exhibit Area at the League's Annual Meeting & Convention from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m., on Friday, May 15, and participate in the "All-In for CULAC" $10,000 Challenge.

"This is a case where every dollar contributed by an individual or a credit union makes a difference.  In order to continue to be successful in legislative advocacy, it is necessary to have the financial resources to support legislators and candidates that support credit unions, both at the state and national level.  The 'All-In for CULAC' Challenge was a suggestion made by a Maine credit union CEO as a way to challenge other CEOs and officials to make a personal contribution and to pledge a contribution on behalf of their credit union to CULAC.  The largest, annual gathering of credit union officials in Maine seemed like the ideal place to do the challenge.  We set a combined goal to raise $10,000 from credit union leaders and credit unions," remarked Jon Paradise, VP of Governmental & Public Affairs for your League.

John Murphy, President of your League, explained, "Because of our successful CULAC fundraising, we had the resources to cover contributions to candidates and parties at both the state and federal level during the past election cycle.  As a result, 85% of the legislative candidates we endorsed in 2014 were successfully elected, and a majority of our endorsed candidates at the federal level were elected.  As a non-partisan organization, the amount we contributed was almost equally divided.  With the next election cycle already underway, having the resources to contribute to candidates that support credit unions is an essential part of the process.  This 'All-In for CULAC' Challenge is a new way we are trying to fundraise for CULAC, and we hope that CU leaders and credit unions will answer this challenge."

Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted and a running tally of contributions by individual and by credit union will be continuously updated.  Stop by the Governmental Affairs table at the League and Synergent booth anytime from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m., in the Exhibit Area at the Holiday Inn by the Bay, and help us meet the challenge.
