On January 16, employees from the Maine Credit Union League and Synergent joined together virtually for a special announcement. Each year, one exceptional employee is chosen to receive the distinction of Employee of the Year, and staff rallied to show their support for the newest recipient. The 2024 Denis A. Letourneau, Jr. Outstanding League Employee Award was proudly presented to Kim Nicholas, Product Implementation Analyst!
Nicholas has been an integral part of the Synergent family for nearly 28 years. Her nominator noted how “Kim is an indispensable resource for Synergent. Her knowledge of check processing services is not only unmatched internally, but I would also challenge that her experience is unmatched industrywide.”
Throughout her time with the organization, she has been vital to numerous check processing upgrades, the most recent of which occurred in 2024. While completing the Vantage 7 software upgrade, Nicholas continued to advocate for credit union success, offering guidance, training, and support to both the Payments and Check Processing teams.
In addition to supporting the Check Processing team, Nicholas’ implementation knowledge has and continues to provide great assistance to the card services side of the organization. She served as a key contributor to a recent successful RTN FCU/Merrimack Valley CU merger, and she continues to serve many credit unions who rely on her specialized knowledge on ATM terminals and the related networking. Her responsibilities and approach position Nicholas well to help credit unions understand the complexity of network engineering and how to best implement the services she supports daily.
“Kim is a credit union hero. You will never hear anything other than praise from any credit union she works with, which she humbly accepts as being part of her job when in reality she is far exceeding the expectations of both her supervisors and credit unions,” explained her nominator. “In addition to her work with credit unions, Kim has spent many hours helping her team gain additional knowledge on check processing services, but more importantly, she has set the support standard for them and has taken the time to help them understand what credit unions need and expect when working with Synergent. To capture all that Kim has contributed to this organization during her tenure here would be impossible, which is exactly why I think she is a clear choice for the 2024 Denis A. Letourneau award. I honestly don’t know where we would be without Kim as part of our amazing Synergent team!”
Despite serving as a reliable, intelligent, helpful, and kind coworker and resource for internal and external peers alike, Nicholas was shocked to be named the 2024 recipient of the Denis A. Letourneau, Jr. Outstanding League Employee Award.
“It is a true honor to be nominated and to receive this award,” shared Nicholas. “In almost 28 years with Synergent and the Maine Credit Union League, I have seen and been part of so many changes. There is no one individual that can make all of this happen, and I feel privileged to work with one of the best groups of individuals while navigating the industry changes over the years. I look forward to working with this team and all the credit unions we serve in the years to come.”
We hope you will join us in extending our sincerest congratulations to Nicholas for this well-deserved accomplishment, and we thank her for the dedication she continues to show her coworkers, credit unions, and industry colleagues. Our success is the result of collective efforts by remarkable individuals like Nicholas who go above and beyond in all they do simply because it’s who they are.
