CUNA’s National Awards Committee has announced the 2021 recipients of the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award, the Louise Herring Philosophy-in-Action Member Service Award, and the Desjardins Awards for Financial Education. The Maine Credit Union League and Community CU have been named as award recipients.
The League has been recognized with a Desjardins Award in the League category. This is the 18th time the League has been honored with this award. Community CU received three distinct honors: the Louise Herring Award, Desjardins Youth Award, and Desjardins Adult Award.
“Ensuring Mainers have the skills they need to make sound financial decisions is a priority for our League and for Maine’s credit unions,” shared Jake Holmes, League Financial Literacy and Outreach Coordinator. “It is truly collaborative effort, and our League is thrilled that our financial literacy work is again being recognized with this prestigious award. We also commend Community CU for their outstanding achievements.”

The Dora Maxwell Award honors credit unions for outstanding social responsibility projects in their communities. First-place winners for the Dora Maxwell Award include:

- Calhoun-Liberty Employees CU (Florida)
- First Commerce CU (Florida)
- Dade County FCU (Florida)
The Louise Herring Award recognizes credit unions that demonstrate the internal application of credit union philosophy to help better financial matters and increase financial education for its members. First-place winners for the Louise Herring Award include:
- One Detroit CU (Michigan)
- Community CU (Maine)
- Florida State University CU (Florida)
- Patelco CU (California)
The Desjardins Awards honor credit unions, chapters, and leagues for their commitment to both youth and adult financial literacy. First-place winners for the Desjardins Awards include:

- St. Tammany FCU (Louisiana)
- Community CU (Maine)
- Clackamas FCU (Oregon)
- Travis CU (California)
