The League applauds the team at The County FCU for receiving two awards at United Way of Aroostook’s Annual Meeting on June 15! The credit union was recognized with the Top Campaign Award, recognizing the most money donated to a cause, and the Spirit of Hope Award, which honors community involvement.

During tax season, the credit union is quick to lend a helping hand to those who need assistance filing tax returns. In addition to donating hundreds of hours of their time, staff at the credit union help Aroostook County residents file taxes for free while providing them with financial education.

“We are humbled to receive the Spirit of Hope Award from the United Way of Aroostook,” said Ryan Ellsworth, President & CEO at The County FCU. “Supporting our communities and helping to create greater financial literacy is something we strive to do every day. United Way of Aroostook shares a similar motivation with the credit union of People Helping People, so it’s a very easy organization for our credit union family to get behind and support.”

The Spirit of Hope Award is the highest tribute for corporate community involvement among United Way of Aroostook’s partners. According to United Way of Aroostook, when selecting a recipient, they look for a company that runs “a top-performing and outstanding workplace campaign” that demonstrates their commitment to their partnership with United Way of Aroostook in a “comprehensive and tangible way.” The winner must also be a significant donor and active supporter of the organization’s programs and events.

The County FCU sponsors the Aroostook CA$H Coalition and engages with their community to provide financial support and education. The credit union has also maintained a role on United Way of Aroostook’s Board of Directors, supporting the growth of the organization for many years. It was a natural fit to recognize the credit union with both of these well-deserved awards.
