The County FCU Becomes a Champion for Aging with Aroostook Agency on Aging

The County FCU donated $10,000 to Meals on Wheels, achieving the Champion for Aging status with Aroostook Agency on Aging. This status means that the credit union is providing resources for Meals on Wheels to address the needs of older people in their community, ensuring they continue to live locally with dignity and support.

“We are seeing the need for extra support rise in our communities,” said Chris Beaulieu of the Aroostook Agency on Aging. “The County FCU has been remarkable in consistently supporting the Meals on Wheels program. Their primary fundraising event, the Fall Festival to End Hunger, has been the driver for their increased sponsorship, year over year.”

The Fall Festival to End Hunger is a music and food festival held annually at BigRock Mountain in Mars Hill on the first Saturday in October. Last year, The County added an ATV ride-in and golf tournament. The entire event raised over $45,000 for local food pantries. This year, they’re bringing back fall foliage rides up the mountain on their new chairlift in order to drive more attendance.

“The Fall Festival to End Hunger has been growing over the last two years, and we’re proud to use the proceeds from that event to support our communities,” said Dan Bagley, Executive Vice President of The County FCU. “Our motto of ‘People Helping People’ drives us to push harder and achieve more. Everything we raise goes back into local food pantries for our friends and neighbors.”

This year’s festival will happen rain or shine on Saturday, October 4, with multiple activities going on simultaneously. From a cornhole tournament to bouncy houses and fall foliage rides, there is something for everyone to enjoy while raising money for a great cause. Headlining the musical acts that day is Motor Booty Affair, a group known for lighting up stages across America with their tributes to some of the greatest musicians of all time.
