The County FCU Announces Summer Promotions

The County FCU is pleased to announce two recent team member promotions. Ethelyn “Effie” Murchie has been promoted to Vice President of Compliance and BSA, and Jacob Kinney has been promoted to Vice President of Information Technology.

Effie Murchie

Murchie began her career with credit unions in 1987 joining The County FCU as a teller at the Caribou branch in 1992. She worked on opening new accounts and eventually transitioned to the Human Resources Department as an executive assistant. Next, she moved into a loan officer position and remained there for six years until becoming the Fort Fairfield Branch Manager. Murchie served as the manager there for 17 years before becoming Assistant Vice President of Compliance & BSA.

“We are fortunate to have Effie’s wealth of knowledge in this role,” said Ryan Ellsworth, President & CEO of The County FCU. “For more than 30 years, she has not only mentored new credit union employees and shaped important policies but also played a vital role in protecting our members and the credit union from fraud. Her leadership in compliance and BSA oversight continues to strengthen our organization and safeguard the financial well-being of our members.”

“I have enjoyed helping members and staff with their financial needs over the years,” said Murchie. “The County has allowed me to grow and take on different challenges over the years. I feel I have acquired so much experience and knowledge that I use every day.”

Jacob Kinney

Kinney began his career with The County FCU as a part-time teller while attending the University of Maine at Presque Isle. After graduating with a degree in business administration concentrating in information technology and project management, he joined The County as an IT support technician. In 2022, he was promoted to Assistant Vice President of Information Technology.

“Jake has researched and implemented truly ground-breaking technologies at The County,” said James Mattila, COO at The County FCU. “He continues to look ahead for ways to provide our members with products and services that make their financial lives easier.”

“I’m grateful for the recognition and proud to continue growing with The County,” said Kinney. “I’ve been fortunate to work alongside such a talented group, and I’m excited to keep building on what we’ve accomplished so far. I will be continuing my focus on technology enhancements that make it easy to do business, while maintaining the security our members have come to expect.”

“Effie and Jake represent the very best of our credit union,” said Ellsworth. “Their commitment to our members, their leadership within our team, and the impact they have on our growth have helped shape our success. We are excited to see their continued contributions as they step into these new roles.”
