To date, close to 15 individuals registered for your League's Annual Hike the Hill trip, October 5-7, to Washington, D.C., and there is still time for others to join the trip. Though the agenda is not yet final, meetings with each member of Maine's Congressional Delegation have been confirmed, as has a special Lobster Bake event hosted by Senator Angus King at CU House on Tuesday evening, October 6th.
"We have a lot of important issues to discuss with our Delegation including data security, regulatory relief, possible overdraft rules being considered by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and, of course, member business lending changes being considered by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). The opportunity to sit down and have a face-to-face discussion on these and other issues, as well as listening to some of the other priorities that our Delegation is working on, is important to us, so having a strong representation and cross-section from each region of the state reinforces the value we place on these meetings and on our legislative relationships," explained your League's President John Murphy.
In addition to the meetings and the special Lobster Bake at CU House that Senator King is hosting, the Hike will also include a legislative briefing and update from members of the Credit Union National Association's (CUNA) political and legislative staff. Your League is hosting a group dinner following the briefing from CUNA at the Capitol Grille on Monday evening, October 5th. Your League is still determining if there will be an additional event on Wednesday morning before flying back to Maine.
