Use a Credit Union and Own It is now a major message charting with summer concert promotions, thanks to strong relationships with the media. Maine's credit unions, in conjunction with your League’s Statewide Awareness Campaign, are receiving an abundance of value-added exposure tied in to several big concerts.
"In addition to having a significant on-air and online radio presence this summer through paid advertising, the value-added components, especially when tied in to popular events and promotions increases the visibility of Maine's credit unions even more with a diverse group of listeners. We are fortunate to have such strong media partners that look for ways to provide additional benefits and exposure for Maine's credit unions at no charge," stated your League's VP of Corporate Marketing Debra Trautman. The end result translates into more than $30,000 in value-added exposure and awareness for Maine's credit unions.
In early July, Portland radio station, WPOR 101.9, included Maine's credit unions in all of its recorded and live on-air promotional mentions regarding its successful, first-ever WPOR Party at the Pier, a concert held at Maine State Pier featuring three country singers including Easton Corbin, a top-selling country star. In all, more than 1,000 announcements that included a :10 tag highlighting Maine's credit unions and the consumer-focused website, www.mainecreditunions.org, were aired. The Maine credit unions' logo also received prominent placement on WPOR's website. The concert sold-out and drew more than 3,000 people.
In an on-air promotion that is still going on, Maine's credit unions are the “featured partner” for Portland-based radio station, Q-97.9's major concert promotion to see Ariana Grande in Manchester, NH. Again, Maine's credit unions are included in all recorded and live on-air promotional mentions with a nearly :15 second billboard promoting Maine's credit unions and the website. The Maine CU logo is on the radio station's website that draws thousands of visitors daily. Mallory Lavoie, Young & Free Maine Spokester, will be on the air with Q97.9 promoting the Young & Free program, along with the concert, at The Pier on Old Orchard Beach Friday afternoon. Plus, the newly wrapped Young & Free car – the Green Machine – will be parked at The Pier for additional visibility.
Mallory recently participated in several summer festivals, including the Aroostook County Potato Blossom Festival’s parade and activities last week. “Summer events and concerts are popular in Maine, and young adults attend to hear their favorite artists. It’s great to be a part of these promotions; they build awareness for not only Young & Free, but show how credit unions are connected to their communities,” added Mallory.
Finally, WKIT 100.3 in Bangor will be airing a contest in late July and early August giving away tickets to see AC/DC at Gillette Stadium in late August. As a value-added opportunity, Maine's credit unions are receiving significant on-air mentions in conjunction with the contest with each message including information about shared branch network and mainecreditunions.org website.
The Statewide Awareness Campaign’s summer sponsorships also include the Maine Lobster Festival’s information booth July 29- August 2 in Rockland and the 7th Inning Stretch at the Portland Seadog baseball games. The campaign features digital marketing on Pandora, YouTube and Google promoting the SURF Surcharge-free ATM and Shared Branching Networks as members travel to concerts and summer festivals.
