Since 2014, NorState FCU has donated the user fees it has collected from their coin sorters to local Aroostook County charities. The credit union has three coin sorter machines located in Presque Isle, Fort Kent, and Madawaska.

Thanks to its members and the community, $6,663.25 was collected last year. These funds were donated to the Aroostook Veterans Alliance.

“Aroostook Veterans Alliance (AVA) is honored to be the recipient of such a sizable contribution,” shared Jim Gehring, AVA Chief Service Officer. “NorState Federal Credit Union’s generous donation allows AVA to continue serving local veterans and their families as well as supporting our Homeless Veteran Relocation Program which provides necessary items to make a house a home.”

NorState FCU first obtained a coin sorter machine in 2014 and the American Red Cross was selected to be the first recipient of the coin sorter fundraiser. To celebrate ten years of hosting this program, NorState FCU has selected the American Red Cross to be the beneficiary for 2024. Funds collected will help aid disaster relief in Aroostook County.

“We are thrilled to partner with NorState Federal Credit Union in 2024 and the generosity of their employees, members, and communities through the donation of their coin sorter fees,” shared Caroline King,
Executive Director, American Red Cross Northern & Eastern Maine. “
This critical financial support will help ensure that the American Red Cross is always ready and able to respond to disasters.”
