Snail Mail for Kids Program Delivers

Mission Complete! Michelle Williams, Member Service Manager at Sabattus Regional CU, is photographed in front of some of the completed student worksheets that are now on display at the credit union.

While it is essential to practice physical distancing during this time, social connections are important, especially for children. That is why Sabattus Regional CU started its Snail Mail to Kids program. Most children love receiving mail and thanks to the credit union’s new program, they can!

Sabattus Regional CU has been mailing letters to students since school was let out in March due to COVID-19. Getting a child on the mailing list is easy. Members simply email the credit union their child’s name, age, and address. The effort complements financial literacy outreach efforts planned for National Credit Union Youth Month.

The Snail Mail for Kids program also is educational. Every letter contains a personal finance worksheet. The worksheets are tailored for each child based on their age and contain a “Special Agent” theme.  Children can “fulfill their mission” by returning a completed worksheet to the credit union.

“The feedback and enthusiasm we have received has been wonderful,” said Ashley Clifford, Marketing and Business Development Specialist at Sabattus Regional CU. “It has been nice to interact with our younger members even though it is much different than what we had intended for Credit Union Youth Month. The best part about all of this is when we receive the letters back and hang them up in our office. It really helps bring a smile to all our hardworking employees’ faces!”

The credit union has mailed 30 letters since beginning the program, with new requests coming in daily. The program will run through the end of April.
