Sharing Could Be Worth $10,000 Or More

Sharing is not only something that Maine credit unions do instinctively nearly every day, but it could also be worth thousands of dollars.  Maine credit unions are encouraged to participate in the Share the Love campaign, a campaign coordinated by Love My Credit Union, one of your League's partners.  To participate, upload a video that showcases some of the ways in which your credit union 'shares the love' in your community through charitable activities and endeavors.

From October - December, a public vote will determining a winning credit union in each asset category (small, medium and large) each month and the winners will receive $10,000 to donate to the charity of their choice.  A total of nine winners will receive $90,000 for charity. At the end of the three months, the credit union, regardless of asset size, that receives the most votes duirng the entire campaign will be awarded an additional $15,000 to donate to charity.

To enter this contest, which is open to credit unions nationwide, log onto LoveMyCreditUnion.org/CUSharetheLove, follow the quick and easy upload process, and gear up for the public voting phase!

This is a great chance for your credit unions to sound off about all the great work that they do in their communities and connect with the greater credit union movement nationwide. By creating a simple video showcasing the charitable work that they do in their neighborhoods, your credit unions will have a chance to win thousands of dollars for the charities of their choosing (note: the charity must be a 501 (c)(3) approved by the IRS).

"From the leadership role on ending hunger to countless other causes and activities, Maine credit unions have a strong tradition of community-service and giving back.  This contest is an opportunity to recognize the great things that are already happening," remarked Jon Paradise, Vice President of Governmental & Public Affairs for the Maine Credit Union League.

The public voting phase begins October 1st. Credit unions are encouraged to have their videos submitted before consumer viewing begins; however, videos can be submitted anytime throughout the campaign. That means your credit unions still have time to brainstorm and bring together any materials that they would like to showcase. Additionally, new marketing materials have been created and are now available for credit unions to promote their entries.

Time is of the essence. Once public voting begins, the earlier credit unions submit their videos, the longer the public will have to vote. Don't wait — encourage your credit unions to get online and share the love now!
