(From The Piscataquis Observer) – Sebasticook Valley Federal Credit Union continues a commitment to the community through member initiatives.
On Sunday, Aug. 11 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Newport branch, Sebasticook Valley FCU is continuing their long-standing support of the Maine Credit Union League’s ongoing Ending Hunger campaign by hosting a community yard sale, with all proceeds benefiting the campaign. The statewide program ensures that 100 percent of the funds raised are awarded to hunger organizations in Maine, with the goal of alleviating hunger and providing essential support to individuals and families facing food insecurity.
“Our goal is always to make a difference in the local community,” said Sebasticook Valley Federal Credit Union President Jim Lemieux. “The generosity, dedication and willingness to help showcased by all our members and employees never fails to amaze me. We’ve always made it our mission to ensure that we’re giving back to the community who has supported us for over 70 years.”
To participate in the community yard sale supporting the Campaign for Ending Hunger, people can drop off gently used items to be put up for sale at either branch, or members can reserve a yard sale set-up space at the Newport branch by calling 207-487-5576 or emailing Mindy Nyman, assistant vice president of member services, at mnyman@svfcume.com.
