OTIS FCU’s Community Support Makes Impact During the Holidays

Even after the holidays have passed, the impact of credit union–led community initiatives continues to be felt across our local communities. OTIS FCU recently reflected on two special efforts that brought neighbors together, supported local nonprofits, and reinforced the credit union philosophy of People Helping People.

Celebrating Tradition at Olde Fashioned Christmas

OTIS FCU proudly supported the 8th Annual Olde Fashioned Christmas at the Washburn-Norlands Living History Center in Livermore. Held during the first weekend of December, this beloved three-day event featured a festival of trees sponsored by local businesses, along with historical demonstrations and holiday activities for all ages.

This year, OTIS FCU served as the Wagon Rides Sponsor, providing free wagon rides for attendees on Saturday—adding to the festive experience for families and visitors. OTIS also sponsored a holiday tree, “A Very LEGO® Christmas,” with raffle proceeds benefiting Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger. The tree raised $1,316, contributing to a total of $10,646 raised for multiple local charities through the festival’s tree raffles.

Events like Olde Fashioned Christmas showcase how credit unions can support local traditions while making a meaningful difference in their communities.

Food to Fuel: Supporting Neighbors in Need

OTIS FCU also wrapped up its Food to Fuel food drive, held from November 24 through December 12. Community members were invited to drop off non-perishable food items at the credit union’s branch, with all donations benefiting Good Shepherd Food Bank.

To thank members for their generosity, anyone who donated was entered into a drawing for $500 in heating assistance—helping address an especially critical need during the colder months. The drive was met with an outpouring of support, highlighting the strength and compassion of the community OTIS FCU serves.

Together, these initiatives reflect the lasting impact credit unions can have—during the holidays and beyond—by stepping up for their communities when it matters most.
