OTIS FCU is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for its 2021 Scholarship Program. The credit union will be awarding five members who are graduating high school with a $500 scholarship.
“It is truly a privilege for us to be able to give back to the community in this way,” said Sarah Hayes, Director of Marketing and Communications. “The last year has been trying for so many—emotionally, financially, and otherwise. On top of this, students, as well as their families, have had to adapt to a school year unlike any other. It is our hope that these scholarships not only help to lessen the financial burden higher education often presents to families, but that they serve to rightfully recognize the immense effort, determination, and resilience that our area seniors have been called on to display during this unprecedented time.”
To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Applicant must be accepted to a post-secondary school
- Student must begin their higher education within one year of completing high school
- Must be a primary member of OTIS FCU
All applicants are required to complete a scholarship application and describe in 100 words or less how OTIS FCU has made a difference in their lives or in the life of someone they know. A copy of the college, university, or technical school letter of acceptance must be included with the application, along with a letter of recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor.
Applications must be received no later than May 14, 2021 and will be reviewed by the credit union’s scholarship committee. Winners will be notified during their school’s Senior Night or by mail. Funds will be disbursed to each student upon the completion of their first semester.
