Northeast CU recently participated in a seven-day event in which people around the world united for one common goal: to spread kindness! The entire organization was encouraged to participate in Random Acts of Kindness Week. During their weeklong celebration, branches and departments shared their mission-related efforts to spread kindness throughout Maine, New Hampshire, and beyond.
Random Act of Kindness (RAK) Week is always a favorite time of year for the staff of the credit union. Employees get to go above and beyond in their efforts to enrich the lives their members, teammates, and communities, and this year was no exception.
To support the elimination of food insecurity, teams volunteered at local food banks, provided meal bundles to members, and surprised unsuspecting shoppers by paying for their groceries. Children in the foster care system received handwritten notes from Northeast CU employees, while shelters and Habitat for Humanity received much-needed supplies and funds to support displaced families and their pets.
Local teachers and schools were the recipients of books, supplies, and snacks to ease the burden on students and raise spirits among staff. Additionally, several branches surprised members and first responders with gift cards, flowers, treats, and kind words to brighten their days.
“RAK Week is one of our favorite times of year, and we were thrilled with our staff’s enthusiasm and eagerness to participate,” shared Chris Parker, President and CEO at Northeast CU. “It was inspiring to see all the ways our team chose to spread kindness throughout the week, and I’m proud they have acted in ways that will help enrich and nourish our communities year-round.”
