Northeast CU Celebrates Kindness Through Unique Initiative

Northeast CU believes at the heart of every community are good people doing great things. That’s why it partnered with the Portland Sea Dogs and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and to host its third annual Nice Catch – Celebrating Kind Kids initiative. Nice Catch was created to recognize Maine and New Hampshire children who consistently demonstrate compassion, empathy, and kindness toward their peers, teachers, coaches, family, and other community members and who go above and beyond to make their communities kinder and brighter places.

“During these challenging times, it’s wonderful to see that there are so many selfless kids in our communities aspiring to make the world a brighter place for all,” said Timothy J. Collia, President and CEO at Northeast CU. “More than ever, we believe it’s important to shine light on these kind kids and share their stories so that they can inspire others to do the same.”

The Nice Catch initiative encourages teachers, coaches, youth leaders, community members, and family members to nominate kids age 18 years old and younger. Twelve Grand Prize winners were selected this summer from dozens of nominations. Winners received a special video from either the Sea Dogs or Fisher Cats on Facebook, along with a goodie box sent to their house with tickets to attend a game when fans are able to return to the stadiums. Their tickets also include an opportunity to throw the ceremonial first pitch on the field.

Northeast CU is proud to share their 2020 Nice Catch Kind Kids! Full stories on what makes these kids so kind can be found at thelyc.com/nicecatch.
