October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to help raise money for this important cause, Northeast Credit Union (NECU) launched a new initiative, Hats for Hope.
Throughout the month, limited-edition, pink embroidered Love Your Community (LYC) baseball hats will be sold at all 19 NECU branches for $15. 100% of the proceeds will benefit My Breast Cancer Support, a non-profit organization that provides financial and emotional support to patients and families affected by breast cancer in Maine and New Hampshire.
“Words can’t describe the conversations we have with struggling patients, who are so relieved to hear we can help with a month’s rent, heating oil, groceries, a car repair, or whatever they need most,” said Jennie Halstead, Executive Director of My Breast Cancer Support and breast cancer survivor. “Their gratitude and relief is palpable and they appreciate both the financial and emotional support we are able to provide. Without NECU and supporters like them, we could not be there for these patients.”
Earlier this fall, NECU donated $1,000 to My Breast Cancer Support ’s Celebrate Pink 5K.
