Young & Free Maine's newest promotion, Bucks for Books gives college students a head start on a big college expense – textbooks. Students in Maine are invited to enter the Bucks for Books giveaway to win bucks to cover the cost of books! Maine's credit unions are giving two $500 gift cards, one $300 gift card, and one $200 gift card, to the winners, on or around September 29, 2015.
"I think most college students would agree that one of the most hard-hitting expenses in college are textbooks. I know it was painful for me to empty my pockets to buy books, but sometimes, there was no way around it," said Young & Free Spokester Mallory Lavoie.
She explained credit unions have the opportunity to support students throughout college. "With accounts that offer good perks, rewards programs, and mobile tools, college life can be made easier -- at least on the financial side. Balancing school and finances doesn't have to be a hassle, credit unions make it easy. Having some of the expense of books covered can mean having extra money towards living expenses," said Mallory. "$200, $300, or $500 can go a long way in helping to cover some costs of living."
Your members may enter the giveaway at www.youngfreemaine.com, and submit the Bucks for Books entry form between August 17, 2015, at Noon, and September 11, 2015 at 3:00 p.m.. Young & Free Maine will track the results and share with credit unions. Promotion materials are available by contacting Debra Trautman.
Mallory will be at several college fairs over the next six weeks promoting why credit unions are the best financial choice. Let Mallory know if you would like her to speak with your staff or connect with your credit union at an event this fall.
"We continue to see growth with age 18-25 membership in Maine – 11.6% growth from July 2014 to July 2015, at 22 CUs tracking via Synergent," said Debra Trautman, Vice President of your League's corporate marketing division. "Young & Free Maine is one we target market to make sure the future generation is aware of credit unions and their benefits."
