After 44 years of presiding over his credit union's Annual Meeting, Phil Moreau, President/CEO of Rainbow FCU, put down the gavel for the final time following his CU's Meeting on Sunday, March 15, at the Franco American Center in Lewiston. Moreau has previously announced that he will be retiring as President/CEO effective June 30, 2015. John Murphy, President of the Maine Credit Union League, was in attendance to present Moreau with a special plaque recognizing his tenure.
Reflecting on his final Annual Meeting as CEO, Moreau said, "It was nice to have the meeting at the same location as where my first meeting was held. Back then, it was a church and now it's known as the Franco American Center but, in many ways, it really felt like everything came full circle. It was nice to see a signficant increase in attendance over previous years and, while bittersweet, I have to admit it will be nice sitting with the membership next year."
In his remarks, Murphy called Phil "a great example of the cooperative spirit of credit unions. Phil has given so much to his credit union and his members over the years, and I am here to express my appreciation and recognition to Phil for 44 years of service. Congratulations."
In May, Moreau will attend his last Annual Meeting of the Maine Credit Union League as a member of the League Board, and will be recognized for his contributions to the League and Maine's credit unions at that time.
