Ryan Poulin, President/CEO of New Dimensions FCU, was honored by the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce this past week as the 2014 Business Person of the Year. Poulin, who has been with the credit union for more than 20 years and served as President/CEO since 2001, was recognized for "his commitment and service to his community."
Poulin said the award from the chamber came as a complete surprise. "I was shocked and dumbfounded," he said. "When my staff sat me down and told me, I was speechless. Then I said, 'Why me?' And they said, 'Why not you?' I was really taken aback. I am truly honored."
According to the Chamber, the Business Person of the Year Award is given to an area business principal or officer who has displayed solid leadership in setting the positive direction of his or her company and has maintained integrity, professionalism and vision within the free enterprise system of our region. The nominee must be located within the chamber's geographic area of service, must be a chamber member, must endorse the free enterprise system and must be an owner or chief executive officer.
In addition to his work at the credit union, Poulin's community service involvement includes membership in the Central Maine Fire Attack School, Sidney Athletic Association, Mount Merici School, Seton Village, a Boy Scouts Troop Leader, and a variety of other causes and organizations. He is also active within the Maine CU Movement having served as a past member of several League Commmittees and currently serves on the Board of TRICORP FCU.
Upon hearing that Poulin was honored, your League's President John Murphy called the selection "recognition of Ryan's willingness to get involved in making his community a better place to live. He is not only a strong supporter of his credit union and Maine's credit unions but he is also an active participant in so many other activities. Ryan is a very worthy and deserving recipient of this award and I extend my sincere congratulations to him and everyone associated with New Dimensions FCU on receiving this prestigious award."
