Every year, the credit union industry comes together for one special day to celebrate our movement’s collective achievements and showcase the credit union difference. We hope you will join our League and credit unions around the globe in celebrating International Credit Union Day on Thursday, October 20. This year’s theme, Empower Your Financial Future with a Credit Union™, commemorates our shared commitment to uplift our communities and improve the financial lives of our members.
Credit unions in Maine are encouraged to share social media stories of member empowerment to commemorate the occasion. When you reflect on all the ways your credit union and others in our movement carry out this theme every day, this message should be easy to highlight. To assist you, the League has developed social media assets—including graphics and messaging—that can be easily downloaded and customized to suit your credit union’s needs. These materials can be found on the League’s website. Please remember to use the hashtag, #ICUDay, when posting on social media.
Some credit unions may also decide to hold a fundraiser for Ending Hunger or CULAC, or host an open house, contest, or picnic to celebrate International Credit Union Day. It’s also a great time to reach to local schools in your community about hosting a Financial Fitness Fair or sharing Maine Credit Unions’ award-winning elementary curriculum for grades K-8. The options are limitless!
