Management Roundtable Speaker Profile: Lee Wetherington

With registrations for the Maine CU League's Management Roundtable, happening September 22-23, at the Samoset in Rockport, nearing 90, the line-up of speakers and sessions is clearly one of the reasons behind the strong registration total, as the Conference is still more than three weeks away.  In continuing the preview of this year's program, this week's profile is on Lee Wetherington, Director of Strategic Insight for ProfitStars®, who will present a session on the future of credit union branches.

A past speaker at the 2013 Maine CU League Convention, Wetherington returns with a session that will provide insight, backed by strategic research and analysis, on the role of branches.  Entitled "Branch of the Future: A Fact Check on Where We Are, What Works and What Doesn't," Wetherington will discuss the latest trends on branch traffic, how branches remain relevant, and what financial institutions are doing to redesign the branch experience for consumers.  He will also provide his forecast on what the future holds for branches.  "Online and mobile banking continue to grow at a significant pace, but studies continue to show that a branch connection is still important to consumers when choosing a financial institution and for some transactions.  I am looking forward to having a robust discussion on the evolution of the branch and where I see it going at the Roundtable," Wetherington explained.

While Wetherington's session kicks off the second day of the Roundtable on Wednesday, September 23, the Roundtable begins with two sessions on Tuesday, September 22, beginning with your League's President John Murphy's Roundtable Discussion including a highlight and overview of the League and Synergent's initiatives to help credit unions moving forward.  Former NCUA Board Chair Dennis Dollar follows Murphy with a candid presentation on the opportunities and challenges that come with growth, as well as the regulatory environment and an examination about what the credit union difference really means to consumers.  Following Wetherington on Day 2 is a CEO Panel of Maine credit union CEOs sharing best practices and offering their thoughts on current issues and topics.  The Roundtable concludes with Patrick Adams, President/CEO of St. Louis Community CU, and one of the credit union movement's leading innovators and champions.  Adams' enthusiasm and passion for credit union is contagious and one of the reasons why he is so in demand as a speaker across the country.
