Disposing of documents containing sensitive information is something everyone has to do at one point or another to stay organized, but it’s crucial to ensure those items are disposed of—better yet, destroyed—properly. Otherwise, those documents could land in the wrong hands, putting personal information at risk.
To help keep their members and community safe, Maine State CU recently hosted a Shred-It Day at its Waterville location. The credit union did not put a limit on how many documents people could bring to be shredded and opened the event to everyone in the community. All together, Maine State CU shredded 43 bins of documents, which is approximately 258 standard household boxes worth of paper!
“The community loves this event,” shared Nichole Lee, Maine State CU’s Vice President/Waterville Branch Manager. “One member said she looks for it every year and is incredibly grateful for this service. People like that their financial documents are secure once they are shredded. And happier, more financially secure members are our priority.”
In addition to the document shredding, the credit union coordinated a 50/50 raffle in-person to benefit the Campaign for Ending Hunger. The fundraiser’s winner donated their prize money to the Campaign, raising a total of $231 in just three short hours.
Great work to the team at Maine State CU’s Waterville location!
