In less than 48 hours, Maine State CU employees collected nearly 700 pairs of socks to donate to area homeless shelters in memory of Erskine Academy student Rémy Joel Pettengill. Socks were delivered to his family last Saturday during Rémy’s celebration of life services and will be distributed to organizations of the family’s choosing.
“Many of our members, employees, friends, and family have been affected by Rémy’s premature passing,” shared Stephen Wallace, President & Chief Executive Officer at Maine State CU. “It was only right that we helped support his philanthropic nature, but also the community as they grieve. Our employees answered the call, and I’m very proud of Maine State Credit Union and their giving spirit.”
Rémy, 17, died unexpectedly on January 7.
