Registration is officially underway for the first-ever Maine CU Financial Literacy Conference to be held on Wednesday, September 6, at the CU Service Center in Westbrook. The dynamic program will include local and national speakers who will present on financial education efforts at all ages.
Mary Dyer of the Finance Authority of Maine (FAME) will kick-off the conference with an overview of FAME's financial education programs, with a special focus on college students. Attendees will then be joined by Christopher Morris of the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF), who will provide a national perspective on financial education, and discuss some of the Foundation’s recent initiatives and research findings.
Following Morris, CUNA Mutual, the NCUF and the Maine CU Financial Literacy Council will present the Retire on Track Retirement Fair for all attendees to participate in. This program was created to assist credit unions help their members and staff better prepare for retirement. This award-winning fair will help attendees think more carefully about the type of lifestyle they would like to pursue in retirement and how that lifestyle fits into their overall financial plan. Retire on Track is applicable to people of all ages, not just those nearing retirement.
