Logging Your Volunteer Hours Helps Us Showcase the Credit Union Difference

Volunteerism is an important way credit unions carry out our People Helping People philosophy. Credit union employees log thousands of hours each year volunteering their time and talent to support local organizations.

Has your credit union been reporting your volunteer hours for 2023? If you haven’t, now is a great time to begin! And if you have, please keep up the effort. Recording what your credit union is doing helps us demonstrate the credit union difference and plays an important role in our advocacy efforts.

To make tracking your volunteer hours easy, visit the CUs Share for ME page on the League website. This online tool is a convenient way to record your hours each month.

In 2022, Maine credit unions contributed 18,971 hours in volunteer time. According to the Independent Sector, these efforts are worth approximately $568,181 in donated time.

Credit unions with the most volunteer hours are recognized for their efforts at the League’s Annual Ending Hunger Luncheon. Last year, the three credit unions who recorded the most volunteer time by asset size were:

  • Gardiner FCU with a total of 1,675 hours of donated time in 2022
  • Midcoast FCU with a total of 3,064 hours of donated time in 2022
  • University CU with a total of 2,860 hours of donated time in 2022
