League & Synergent Recognize 2023 Employee of the Year

Jason Candelora

When League and Synergent employees gathered for the annual company holiday celebration on December 14, Cris Wescott, Interim President/CEO, made an exciting and special announcement to all staff. Every year, one exceptional employee is chosen to receive the distinction of Employee of the Year. This year, the Denis A. Letourneau Jr. Outstanding League Employee Award—more recently called the Champion Award—was proudly presented to Jason Candelora, Solutions Architect.

Candelora has been with the organization for eight and a half years, and in that time, he has continued to demonstrate generosity, compassion, and service to both the credit unions Synergent serves and his peers. With a smile on his face, he is always ready to assist when and where he is needed without complaint.

“There is never a time when you ask Jason for help that he doesn’t do everything he can to assist,” explained Candelora’s supervisor, Tyler Hudson, Chief Information Officer. “No matter if it’s a question, issue, or development opportunity, he is always there to help the Synergent team. Beyond that, he’s instrumental in guiding Synergent as we prepare and develop for the future. His efforts to help Synergent increase efficiency and utilize new tools and strategies have not only been outstanding this year but also benefits us for many years to come.”

So many across the company would agree with Hudson, as Candelora is consistently lending a helping hand. Wescott shared similar sentiments from the nomination of Candelora for the Denis A. Letourneau Jr. Outstanding League Employee Award:

“The person who was selected for the Denis A. Letourneau Jr. Outstanding League employee for 2023 is someone who is always willing to help whenever the need might arise,” expressed Wescott. “Whether it’s writing edits during conversions to help fix a data issue, jumping in to help with something that has broken during the night, or to just answer questions or fix issues their fellow employee is working on, he always does everything he can to help. He is also crucial in helping the organization plan and act on advancements for our offerings by making us more efficient, utilizing new strategies and tools, or researching how we can ensure we have positioned ourselves to be the best version of Synergent now and into the future. Jason has said he loves being part of Synergent and we couldn’t be more fortunate to have him as part of the Synergent family.”

Despite his ongoing hard work and efforts to help those around him succeed, Candelora was surprised to hear his name called as the recipient of the award.

“I consider myself so privileged to be part of the team here at Synergent and the Maine Credit Union League,” shared Candelora. “It has been quite the ride over the last eight plus years with a lot of challenges, but with the team we have built here we can make it through anything! With all of the talented individuals we have, I never really saw myself being the recipient of this award, but I am genuinely grateful. I look forward to continuing our mission of serving credit unions and enabling them to provide world-class service to their members!”

On behalf of the League and Synergent, as well as the credit unions we serve across Maine and the country, we extend sincere congratulations to Candelora for this accomplishment, and we thank him for his hard work and dedication to the organization and our credit unions. Our combined success is thanks to the efforts of extraordinary employees like Candelora who embody the People Helping People mission every day.
