League Encourages Volunteerism Reporting Under New Name

Each year, credit unions across Maine give back to their local communities in meaningful and creative ways. Credit union employees offer their time and assistance at food banks, animal shelters, walk-a-thons, Special Olympics Maine events, benefit fairs, fundraisers, and more—enriching our society and bringing communities together.

The People Helping People philosophy has long-been demonstrated through volunteerism efforts across the state, with credit unions reporting their efforts using the CUs Share for ME form. The form has helped the League track and quantify our collective philanthropic impact. Collecting these reports has made it easier for the League to share stories with the media, political leaders, and public about all the great work being done in communities across the state.

To better represent the mission of the program, the CUs Share for ME tool has undergone a name change—now being called the Volunteer Tracking tool. With a switch to a comprehensible name, the League will be able to more effectively convey our mission.

All hours previously tracked will carry over—all the way back to the inception of our tracking tool.

How do you report your efforts? Whether you’re going to continue reporting your volunteerism efforts or begin doing so in 2025, you simply fill out this form on our website. Enter the name of your credit union, what month your staff volunteered, how many staff members volunteered, and how many hours were spent volunteering total for the month. After that, select the philanthropic effort(s) from the provided list and click “submit.” It’s that easy! Refer to this guidelines document to see what counts towards your volunteerism total.

As a reminder, the credit unions with the most volunteer hours are recognized for their efforts at the League’s Ending Hunger Results Luncheon. If you haven’t reported the hours you spent volunteering in 2024, it’s not too late! Submit your report(s) by January 10 to have your totals counted towards our collective 2024 total, as well as to be in the running for the Volunteers of the Year Award!

If you have any questions about the Volunteer Tracking tool, email Jake Holmes at jholmes@mainecul.org or call 207.773.5671, ext. 266.
