On January 8, nearly 150 educators in the Wells-Ogunquit school district experienced a role reversal. Rather than facilitating their own learning sessions, they became the students and benefited from a lesson plan delivered by Jake Holmes, League Director of Outreach and Strategic Planning. Holmes walked staff through the League’s new adult financial education curriculum, sharing helpful budgeting tips to help improve their financial wellness. This innovative curriculum is now available for credit unions to utilize, offering volunteers a grab-and-go financial education resource.
“It was exciting to roll out our new curriculum with Wells-Ogunquit faculty and staff,” shared Holmes. “Teaching adult learners is a great complement to the financial outreach we are already doing with a younger demographic. The participants asked interesting questions and were very engaged in the dialogue.”
The League plans to provide credit unions with detailed information about the new adult curriculum soon, along with a free “train the trainer” session. This session will guide credit unions on how to effectively implement the curriculum. Designed for use in community settings such as food pantries, rotary clubs, and other organizations, the curriculum aims to expand financial education opportunities for adults in diverse environments.
