Keeping Older Members Safe From COVID-19 Scams

Protecting our older members from financial scams is a responsibility Maine credit unions take seriously. Since much of the COVID-19 related fraud is targeting older Americans, the League has developed new materials to help credit unions raise awareness about this troubling trend.

Credit unions can download a one-pager for their employees to help their staff recognize the signs of elder financial abuse. The League also has created a document that credit unions can share with their members to inform them about COVID-19 scams targeting older adults.

By remaining vigilant, credit unions can help spot and prevent financial exploitation.
