“Every person can make a difference, and every person should try,” said President John F. Kennedy. Few embody that spirit more fully than John Doe, whose contributions have left a lasting impression on both our industry and the community he calls home. On May 16, Doe was presented with a Special Award at Elevate in recognition of his years of service to the Maine Credit Union League and Synergent, as well as Eastmill FCU, his local credit union.

Doe served as a member of the League and Synergent’s Board of Directors for 25 years and was Chairman from 2024-2025. During this time, he facilitated a smooth transition of two new organizational presidents—Elise Baldacci at the Maine Credit Union League and Randy Stolp at Synergent. In addition to these duties, he is an active member with Eastmill FCU, volunteering his time and talent to serve on their Board, as well.

An educator at heart and by profession, Doe has consistently dedicated himself to uplifting those around him. Whether in the classroom, the boardroom, or on Capitol Hill advocating for credit unions, he seeks out solutions that empower people and help our industry grow and thrive.

“John has been a steady hand on our Board through some of our biggest moments,” shared Stolp. “Through it all, John has been a trusted voice—always standing up for what is right. His actions have helped shape the future of the credit union movement here in Maine. The way he serves mirrors the way John lives his life with patience, fairness, and heart.”

“John is one of the nicest, kindest people you will ever meet,” added Baldacci. “But what I am most grateful for is his commitment to service and his steady leadership. He has always been there for me whenever I have needed him and is just as welcoming to my staff. There is truly no one like John in the credit union world, and I’m thankful to have had this opportunity to work so closely with him during my career.”

Thank you, John, for your unwavering commitment to carrying out the credit union People Helping People philosophy. Your leadership and contributions have left a lasting and meaningful impact on our industry, and your legacy will continue to inspire and guide the League and Synergent for years to come.
