Infinity FCU Is Doing What It CAN to End Hunger

On September 13, Infinity FCU joined the United Way of Greater Portland at its Annual United We CAN Sculpture Contest and Food Drive. The event invites area businesses to construct sculptures made of canned goods and compete against one another for best sculpture.

Infinity FCU has participated in the contest for the past three years and created a Maine sculpture for this years’s event.  The yellow dots detailed on their sculpture represent where Infinity FCU has branches.

“This was our third year participating in the event and it’s become a staff favorite,” says Kathy Guillory, Infinity FCU’s Director of Marketing, “Our team enjoys the comradery and friendly competition for best sculpture awards with other local businesses, while raising awareness of food insecurity in Cumberland County. We spent several weeks planning and designing our State of Maine sculpture and were pleased to donate 1,000 cans to the Wayside Food Programs.”

Following the event, Wayside Food Programs distributed the canned goods to area food pantries in Cumberland County. On Monday, a United Way spokesperson told Mainebiz that more than 26,000 meals were collected from the event, reported in those terms instead of can numbers “because it speaks to the impact those cans make for our community.”

Even though Infinity FCU did not win this year’s contest, their team was grateful for the opportunity to support the United Way and its important initiative to fight hunger.
