What better way to kick-off National Co-op Month than coming together to cooperatively share ideas, passion and commitment to helping end hunger in Maine?! Join your League for the Annual Ending Hunger Rally and Information Event, along with an opportunity to volunteer on the front-lines of helping provide food to hunger agencies, on Thursday, October 1st. Since October is National Co-op month, and Maine credit unions are the state's largest coop with 660,000 members, the Rally is a great opportunity to highlight how the cooperative nature of the Maine CUs' Campaign for Ending Hunger is a strength when it comes to raising funds and awareness for ending hunger in Maine.
The Rally and Information Event will take place at Good Shepherd Food Bank in Auburn on Thursday, October 1, from 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. All ending hunger representatives and other credit union staff interested in learning more about the Campaign are welcome to attend. The event will include a speaker from Good Shepherd, a review of 2015 EH materials and resources, an opportunity to volunteer in the Warehouse packing and distributing supplies to hunger agencies and/or a tour, and a brainstorming session where attendees share ideas and best practices.
"Some of the most successful ideas have gotten their starts by being discussed and shared at the Rally. In addition, attendees get a list of some fundraisers that other credit unions have tried and done, and taken them back to coordinate at their own credit union. The exchange of ideas and the focus on ways to get involved and have a successful year fundraising is what makes the Rally a really beneficial event. It also provides attendees with a chance to see and be part of how the food banking system works, and the significant role it plays in ending hunger in Maine, as well as the critical role the Maine Credit Unions' Campaign for Ending Hunger's contributions and efforts plays in the process," said Jon Paradise, Vice President of Governmental & Public Affairs for your League.
